There’s a reason people were paying $100+ for premiere tickets. It’s so much more than just a movie, it’s a chance for all the fans to get together & celebrate each other & what we love. They’re some of the best parties you’ll ever go to. I have made such incredible friends at premiere’s & some of my fondest memories with the people I love have been at midnight screenings. We get to play pretend & for a couple hours everyone is a little kid again. For that night we’re not just watching the movie, we BECOME the movie. We’re transported into that world & everyone shares in the adventure. When Professor Dumbledore died in Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince everyone in that theatre lifted up their wands, last night when Bruce Wayne became “The Batman” again, everyone in that theatre stood up & cheered. It’s the reason we stay up till 4am when we have to be ready for work at 6am. I know the tragedy in CO has changed midnight premiere’s forever, but I hope the outcome of this isn’t destroying something that we love. I hope instead this builds awareness that we as a people need to change for the better.
Just like Gotham this world needs a hero. This guy chose the wrong movie, do you know what we do to men that just want to watch the world burn, we set them on fire. Batman is a symbol of hope, that it could be anyone under that mask restoring our faith in humanity & saving the world. Batman fights injustice & turns fear against those who prey on the fearful & he does this all without killing, not even those who deserve it. Let us not become the fearful, let us become The Batman. Let’s show the world this guy did not bring us down! I say we band together & not only save things we love like our premieres, by not being afraid, by not giving into his terror, let’s save those affected by this tragedy. We need to pull all our resources & be that “Dark Knight” to these victims, let’s show the world why it’s right to believe in good. With our strength we make them stronger.❤
